Product Description Each shelf holds 150 lbs. Units snap together without tools. Durable resin construction resists moisture and will not warp, crack, rust, split, peel or rot. Taupe.
Amazon.com Review Is your workroom cluttered? Is it time to re-organize that garage? Rubbermaid's rubber shelves are perfect for any room where you need heavy-duty storage. Assembly is easy, swift, and no tools are necessary. Although a little on the bulky side, these sturdy shelves seem even more stable than similar metal units. Plus, there are no worries about rust, and no sharp edges to cut yourself on. The shelves are capable of holding up to 180 pounds each, yet won't bow under the heavy weight. The convenient modular design also allows for units to be joined with other Rubbermaid shelving - a great feature if your project requires multiple shelving units. Whether you're organizing your workroom or cleaning up your garage, we think the Rubbermaid 5-Shelf Unit is a terrific choice for your heavy-duty utility shelving needs. –-Michael Cleveland

Long term issues January 5, 2009 We bought 5 sets of these shelves several years ago. As others have observed, assembly is easy. Weight capacity is within reason for garage shelving, however small heavy objects can only be stored on the end of the shelves near the uprights. Items like spare vehicle batteries, power supplies or heavy tools will cause the shelves to sag. This is not a black mark as these are not advertised as industrial shelving and I didn't subtract stars for this.
What is significant however is that our shelves became brittle over time. Some cracked and became unusable. This could be specific to the UV stabilizers used in our 5 units or it could be a product wide engineering issue. My experience is limited to the 5 units I own and some are clearly more brittle than others so it is impossible to draw broad conclusions. The fact that their service life has been less than 5yrs and is compromised has lessened their value in my eyes and I have rated accordingly. When we recently moved we did not attempt to use them again and bought wire rack shelves which are considerably more expensive.
Sturdy and Easy to Assemble! Highly Recommended! January 5, 2009 We needed a lot of storage shelf space in a hurry when we opened our new shop. We looked into a few different solutions and decided on getting 8 of the "Rubbermaid 72-Inch Five-Shelf Shelving Units".
The units are very sturdy and were very easy to assemble without any real tools. We used a rubber mallet (gently) to make sure the legs were firmly seated, but it likely wasn't required. We also like that these are fairly easy to move around since they are not very heavy.
The units do vary grealy in price depending on where you are shopping. We have seen these at "Big Box" stores for a lot less when they are in stock, but free shipping with Amazon Prime can make it cheaper to order here.
Overall, these are very good shelving units and are fairly strong. Highly recommended!
Wouldn't Trade Them for Anything December 21, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I already have 2 of these units and am buying another. They hold everything. Putting them together is easy, just tap the joints to set them tight in their place so the shelves are sturdy and level. It's amazing how something so light to move can be so strong. I just love them!
Good, but over priced December 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought a few of this shelving units here with 50 dollars each. I thought it was a good deal. Those shelves have good quality. However, they don't have a built-in way to be bounded with each other to increase stability. After I made those purchases, the price increased to 60 dollars . That's kind of too high.
So I looked around, and found that the next generation of this shelving unit, Rubbermaid 5-shelf steel enforced shelving unit, was sold in Lowe's with 50 dollars each. Those shelves are better, and the shelves are thiner (as they have steel bone inside now, so there is no need to make it so thick) thus the whole unit is a few inches shorter. Those shelves do not have built-in connector either.
Also, Lowe's has an all-plastic Real Organized shelves, very similar to this item, but worse built. That one's listing price is 50 dollars , and it's on-sale right now in my Lowe's store with 37. Those shelves can be buckled up with each other.
I would say a $50 steel enforced Rubbermaid and a $37 all plastic one are better priced then this $60 all plastic Rubbermaid. I this the proper price of this item, based on the current price of the other two references in Lowe's, shall be between 40 to 45 dollars .
Rubbermaid shelves December 16, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Although not as large as I thought, the shelves held alot of weight and went together easily.
