Amazon.com Review If you think electric mowers are designed for the meek, you've never tried the Black & Decker MM875 Lawn Hog. A high-efficiency 12 amp motor provides all the power you need to tackle even the toughest lawn. Best of all, you never have to hassle with oil, gas, or spark plugs again! The mower comes fully assembled in the box. No tools, no worries--you'll be up and mowing in no time. And best of all, no pull starts! Adjusting the wheel height is quick and easy thanks to a simple one-touch system that raises and lowers all four wheels to any of eight preset heights in one operation. Whether you love yard work or consider it a chore, Black & Decker's MM875 Lawn Hog will have you looking forward to your weekly appointment with the lawn. --Carl Thress

Look ! No Gas! December 24, 2008 I love this electric lawn mower that is rechargable. I live in the suburbs and cut about 6500 square feet of bluegrass mixed. No air pollution but it is also patriotic! How? I don't need to buy any gas from foreign sources! That's right no gas and no air pollution. That makes great sense to me.
New in November December 22, 2008 I bought this in November to finish our lawn season and used it three times. It was easy to use the first time and each time. It came out of the box and we attached the handle and our own heavy duty extension cord. We got tired of the pull cord on our gas mower and always having to plan to have gas on hand. It's a breeze to operate. Our property is only 60x100 and we have outside outlets at each end of the house. The bag is easy to empty. I'm so glad we made this decision. One tip.....instead of a green or brown extension cord, get an orange or white cord so that it is visible in the grass.
B&D Lawn Hog 18" Electric Mower December 12, 2008 This is a replacement for the same unit that I owned for 12 years. That unit was damaged when an object broke the plastic casing, which could not be replaced due to age (no longer available). The mower has served me well in a residential southern setting, regardless of the time between mowings. One caution, however. I have had to pay a local authorized repair shop $90 every 12-24 months to overhaul the unit, replacing the blade, the electric switch, damaged wheels, etc.
Great for California Sized Track Home December 7, 2008 This is the top rated electric lawnmower by Consumer Reports. It is strong, quiet and light weight. There is also a very simple height adjuster. Three of my neighbors have the same unit. For smaller yards this is all you need. Just make sure you don't run over the cord. Finally, save money and buy it on AMAZON. Amazon easily beat the department stores and it qualifies for free shipping.
I have purchased two of these... December 1, 2008 This product is not perfect. It is largely plastic, and prone to breakage if you use it as though it is of the old, all-metal construction. In fact, between the time we took delivery on our second unit and my dropping the first at the dump, we had to cannibalize a part from the prior unit. That said, we prefer an electric model, and when used judiciously it will plow through and handle long, thick grass and mulch up leaves, to boot. Just be sure not to run it over hard objects, which one shouldn't do in any case, but the plastic construction really comes clear when you might do so. Also the electic motor can burn out if you try running it mercilessly in damp grass. Our first unit had the motor replcaed under warranty during the first season's use --- and then we slowed down. So, we don't necessarily expect this unit to last a whole lot longer than the three years we had the first...but if we run it within reason, we can hope to enjoy a mower that always starts on the first switch.
