Good Product January 6, 2009 This product was easy to set up. The range for opening the garage doors isn't as strong as most remotes but once you have pressed the button to open the door and the door is triggered the button will light up letting you know that the door is in process of opening. This is a great product for someone with more than one garage.
Won't program with my newer model Craftsman December 31, 2008 I purchased one of these KLIK1U remotes at a large box home improvement store with the intention of using it with my Craftsman door opener. This opener was installed new about eighteen months ago and uses rolling code security.
I have had four different intelligent and handy people attempt to program this unit and it simply will not work. We followed the printed instructions and even went to the Chamberlain Web site for assistance but nothing helped.
Glad I saved the sales receipt because this unit is going back for a refund. This remote is advertised as working with all brands of openers. It may work with all brands but it does NOT work with all models.
Universal? Not at all true. December 20, 2008 1" tall letters on the front of the package claim "works with ALL brands".
Simply put, that's a lie.
It works with a lot of brands, I assume. However, if you don't know the brand of opener you have (mine is in a commercial building and I can't get to the opener) there's no way to actually set the remote.
Here's part of the programming instructions: If you have a Chaimberlain opener made between 1983 and 1989 (like I know the year?) then set the seven dipswitches (look at another remote or the opener) the same on the new remote. The extra 5 switches should be off. Press the "learn" button. Press the "open" button 19 times (yes, nineteen) waiting for the LED to flash each time. Press the program button.
If that doesn't work, try it again. Also try reversing all the DIP switches and try again.
You could spend hours trying different combination and have no idea of when it might work.
Kiss off, Chaimberlain for claiming to work on ALL BRANDS of openers. I don't deal with dishonest companies. This one goes back to Amazon, and I avoid all Chaimberlain products.
Nice & Compact December 13, 2008 I like this item because it is very slender and light in weight. The only downside to it is that the signal to our garage door seems a little weak. From the street, the signal does not reach our door. I have to be in the driveway for the remote signal to open the garage door.
Works fine December 12, 2008 Nothing fancy about this remote, but it works fine for my purposes. Much cheaper here than at the local home improvement stores.
